We tried some spicy foods. Any bitter or sour flavor in them was dispelled, but the hotness was still definitely there.

		<description>I just read the Wikipedia article and that is indeed how it works.  Apparently, according to some other blog it makes stouts taste like chocolate milkshakes, crappy tequila will taste like lemonade, and it makes all wine taste like Manischewitz.</description>
