Back in the 80’s our high school yearbook committee decided our graduation song should be “Time For me To Fly” (REO! woot!)

Never mind that the song is about a guy DUMPING HIS GIRLFRIEND.

“Hey, look! It says ‘Time for me to fly’. If you can just ignore that bit about ‘you make me cry’…, and that part about you being frigid, and those bits about, falseness, worn out relationship, jealousy and intolerance…

“Yeah, except for all that, it’s pretty cool.”

Thank God I don’t think like a high-schooler anymore.

I thought this song was Green Day saying goodbye to the punk community that once adored them, then scorned them after they became popular. Eh, who knows/
