A Whole New World.
December 2nd, 2007 by Anita Bath
Broadway World is hosting a contest called “Give Us Your Voice”, where each contestant is asked to sing a song from “The Little Mermaid” in a YouTube video. The winner gets an all expenses paid trip to New York.
Most of the contestants I saw were pretty decent, but then I stumbled across Nick Patera:

Initially I figured that HAS to be fake, right? Actually, it’s not (I even happen to have two friends who know the guy - vote for him here!). He’s been perfecting his voice for at least a year, and just released this incredible one person duet as well:

I originally went to post this on Neatorama (where I also contribute), but one of the other authors beat me to the punch. A commentor hit the nail on the head though - imagine this guy on American Idol!? I’d love to see the judge’s faces the first time he sang …

Eeeew. That’s just wrong.
The guy looks like Waldo from Wheres Waldo in the 2nd video, too bad his shirt isn’t red and white stripes… give him a hat and glasses and he can star as Waldo in the motion picture: Wheres Waldo gets Cracked….
ok i’ll stop now…0_o
Very amazing. He switches gears seamlessly. I try to do this in my car with the duet “O False One, You Have Deceived Me” from the Pirates of Penzance, but that is not nearly the same challenge, since the female part is an older woman. Of course, I’d be really blown away if he manages to get two blended voices

Wow, that’s crazy. I think I could do that, but I’d need one of them helium tanks.
umm nice singing but truth-fullly i dont care
Smoke and mirrors. Smoked crack, that is.
I would LOVE to see more video clips, or even a whole CD from this guy. His voice is awesome.
I found him from the Neatorama post, too (that’s my morning coffee website!), and tried to find if the guy has a web site or whatever. it would be AWEsome if more people became more familiar and comfortable with the countertenor range of male voices. O’course, I wish they’d get more comfortable with my being a professional knitter, too! LOL Whatever. I’m just glad a young guy is getting the exposure he deserves. Bravo to him.

Damn-he does that pretty well. Wonder if he can double his chances by singing like that? It would work better if he changed costumes back and forth when he changed voices. Just kidding!
All I can say is this guy’s freakin’ amazing! I was stunned when I first saw (or heard) him. I had to watch the video a couple of times after! I would absolutely love to see more of Nick Patera! I love it! Exploit your talent! Bravo à toi!
Master of the Falsettos…
Wow! He has such an amazing voice, and great control over it, being able to switch to falsetto so seamlessly. I want to see more!
good post - he’s an extremely talented singer.
to ‘God’ - you cared enough to comment… ha.
*snap
He is incredible…
… That is more hot than it should be.
now THAT is a man who’s comfortable with his sexuality. godDAMN!
Wow… That was amazing!!
Falsetto? Are you sure he’s not castrati? I’ll need to look into that… but not too far.
How many wieners can his cavern hold?
Great voice. Voices. I hope his success is as phenomenal as his talent.
