Number 8: Orsinal

This is just a collection of lovely, simple, and addictive flash games that can and will have you under their spell for just about as long as your poor heart can take it. It’s all done very nicely…the games are presented to you as thumbnails, no descriptions, no clue as to what they might lead to…it’s like a happy surprise every time you click a new one. And all the games are pretty cool, though the first one is my favorite.

And, on the topic of games…

Number 7: Notpr0n

Don’t worry, it’s not pr0n. It’s actually a very, very difficult puzzle trail for all you web surfers who think you know a thing or two about html, file formatting, googling, answering riddles, and/or being clever. Every time I try and get a little bit farther, but I haven’t finished it yet. Do you dare take the challenge? (and no fair running screaming like a wuss to a walkthru. Srsly.)

It’s got a pretty fair progression of difficulty though, so go ahead and jump in with both feet. Good luck!

A couple months ago, Bunk sent me this advertisement for a Spam Sandwich sold at Freshness Burger, a very popular fast food chain in Japan and South Korea:

Spam Sandwich

For about $4 U.S., you can have a big hunk of spam, lettuce, tomato, and an over-easy egg. So yummy, you’ll go “Boing” when you eat it.

Anyone know if Freshness Burger still sells Spam Sandwiches?

Everybody has those websites that they visit every day; email, news, forums, (and this one!), what have you. But there are a few websites out there that not everyone gets a chance to see, or they see it once then forget.

I brag sometimes that I’ve seen the whole internet, but I haven’t, not even kind of, but I’m going to share with you guys ten websites that may not be great for a daily visit, but it’s nice to be able to say you’ve been there.

Number 10: SUPERBAD.

All I can find out about this website is, it was designed as a project by a man named Ben Benjamin, and it is awesome. Don’t bother trying to figure out what it is. It’s art!

Every page is a display of different design techniques and styles, and usually has a hidden or not-so-hidden link to another page which features a different image or design, which leads to another, and another…it’s like the most awesome web-maze ever. The title bars, the little image-hover messages, it’s all so curiously and wonderfully created, I can get lost for hours. It’s been around forever, I can’t remember a time when the internet was without it for me, and every time I go back I find something different, meaning either mister Benjamin updates sometimes, or simply that I’m always finding something new. Which is possible. It’s a creative wonder, and definitely worth a visit and a browse.

Just make sure you’ve nothing else to do. And, on the topic of projects…

Number 9: Muffinfilms!

Such a humble website, but such a great little thing…if you’re like me with your friends, every now and again you’ll get into a web-off, which goes something like “check out this website it’s awesome!” “ok, but first let’s watch this video, it’s awesome…” and so it goes until somebody runs out of interesting websites and then loses.

Muffinfilms can be a pretty excellent trump.

It’s just a bunch of experimental flash videos by Amy Winfrey of the later projects Big Bunny and Making Fiends (Fiends is actually going to become a show on nickelodeon at some point in the future, 2008, I believe), all about muffins.

Coming soon: the rest of the numbers.

Bear vs. Cat

Cat chases a bear up a tree

This 15 lb tabby cat chased a bear up two separate trees in rural New Jersey. You can read the whole story at National Geographic.

Chris vs. Beyonce

I know I promised real words. There will be real words! Next post!

But for now, this makes me laugh way too hard not to share it:

I haven’t checked out any more of this guy’s episodes yet, so I don’t know if I can recommend the whole site, but if they’re all like this…well it’ll either be funny or tiresome.

While grocery store clerks have been creatively stacking cans for over a century, only recently did “Canstruction” emerge as a recognized art form (complete with annual competitions held throughout the world). Over the past four years, there’s been thousands of great canstruction sculptures created, but here are a few of my favorites:

“Can we fix it? Yes we CAN!”
Bob the builder from cans

“I was looking for Chicken of the Sea, but ran into this!”

Mario – the ultimate CAN-do plumbler:
Mario Made from Cans

If Snoopy gets hungry, he can just open up a can of Woodstock. Yumm.

“Canstruction workers” even have their own special spot for when they have to “use the can”:

Why take diet pills…

Okay, Okay, Okay…I know. I am a video fiend. But I promise (promise promise) I’m planning an update with words. Real words, and not just words that lead up to a video.

This is not that update.

But, this may be one of the funniest (and genuine) series of commercials I’ve ever seen. The comedy is entirely in their poor choice of product name, and if you haven’t seen them yet, enjoy:

Taste, chew, and Enjoy!

Try new peanut butter Ayds! I wonder why this stuff isn’t around anymore!

Thank goodness, indeed! This next one I find funny mostly because of the images they use…

I’m going to go get myself some Ayds today!

Okay, okay, okay…so sorry for the extended vacation. As I mentioned, my computer was on fire, but now it is fixed, and I return! In the week I was gone, my factory job got more terrible, I discovered a new cheesecake recipe that was delicious, and Avril Lavigne’s newish song “Girlfriend” began to get more airtime, to the detriment of society.

It seriously sounds like one of those old songs the Olsen twins used to sing when they were little and cute and could get away with dumb music videos, only Miss Lavigne doesn’t have the excuse of being small and dumb, she’s just big and dumb and her is shallow. And she calls herself punk. I weep for punk.

Also, I mentioned this Olsen reference to a coworker (younger than myself), and she didn’t know the twins ever sang or made music videos. I felt very old.

Anyhow, Sparta. The movie 300 has pretty much been an internet hit, and me being the sucker for parody, cannot help but to share a few gems with you:

First, a video I cannot embed. It’s a little lame, but I’ve followed the makers of this film through their various projects and I like them a lot.

And for those of you for whom Sparta was a little too intense:

This one calls itself the best parody ever. While I disagree, I can’t help but laugh:

Happy Sparta.

As many of you have probably heard, President Bush and Russian President Vladimir Putin haven’t been on the best of terms since Bush announced plans to put the U.S. missile defense system in Eastern Europe.

To calm down the Russian President, Bush provided him a demonstration of the missile defense shield in action:

Bush’s Missile Defense Shield
“Unfortunately Vlad, this is just a prototype. In real tests we haven’t been able to achieve this level of success.”
