The tedium of the long drive was alleviated by snacks of dried squid and cuttlefish. We could spend hours gnawing through the dried meat, which had the consistency of shoe leather (only saltier). I particularly liked the tentacles, which had little hard rims on the suckers. When we got to our cousins' home, we had terrible squid-breath!
