Tiger Cares for Piglets and Vice-Versa
March 31st, 2007 by ben
The Sriracha Tiger Zoo in Thailand is famous for their unique attractions, fun shows, and the ability for tourists to get close to (and often touch) the tigers. However, the most famous attraction is the couplings of pigs and tigers:

These pictures show two year old Saimai, a Royal Bengal tigress, with the six piglets she is raising.

The tiger doesn’t seem to mind the unclothed piglets, so I’m guessing the costumes were just meant to put on a cute show for the tourists. Either that or she ate the first set of tiger-clad piglets and the zoo hasn’t had time to create new outfits.

While the zoo and all press materials claim the pairings are completely benevolent, I personally wonder if Saimai just views her pig-raising duties as a long “getting ready for dinner” ritual.

Fittingly, Saimai herself was cared for and nursed by a pig:

Thanks Renee!

Hey,
Your blog rocks! nice job. I subscribed to your feed!

isn’t all this kind of cruel? i mean, we’ve all heard of feral children before (children raised by wolves, etc, etc). they turn out totally different than if they were to be raised by humans. can a tiger raised by a pig, or a pig raised by a tiger turn out “normal” as a tiger, or as a pig, respectively? sure, it’s cute and all, but aren’t we just being cruel in letting a tiger get raised in this way?
piger – good question … would it be less cruel to let the tiger be “a tiger” and eat the pigs?
Okay, so in Lion king, the little cub tries to roar like a lion and it comes out as a meow. I wonder what the pig will try to do…

I was raised by wolverines. And possums. No, wait. Just wolverines.
That is great! The tiger skin clothes are cool! Wish I had one, hmm wait, I have tiger skin boots!
Well, they are fake but look really cool!
Aw! Portable Pork..
Bossy wonders if someday her children will brag that they themselves were raised and nursed by a pig.
dinner is already served…6 little piggies!
very cute to see them together ^.^
anita bath: why would letting the tiger eat the pig be cruel? wouldn’t that just be nature at work? and…before the argument of vegetarianism arises, let me point out that we’re talking about animals and not humans. animals don’t have the moral understanding that is behind vegetarianism, so to suggest that the tiger shouldn’t eat the pig out of cruelty is like expecting that a lion in the wild won’t hunt and eat a gazelle. a lion wouldn’t know any better.
Hey, really like this blog. Awesome past time!!
piger – I don’t think it’s cruel at all, you’re right … it’s natural. Allowing a pig to raise a tiger isn’t necessarily cruel either unless the handlers then relocate the tiger back out to the wild.
But that could be said of any zoo animal. Keeping them in a zoo doesn’t seem so bad if they have a large enough area and are happy … releasing them into the wild unequipped seems cruel.
You have to wonder where they got the tiger skin coats…
Edit: I just noticed that three of them were pink… lol my bad.
I had the same thought as soon as I saw the picture: she’s gonna eat her kids. Then after thinking about vice versa… the kids are going to eat their mom! Yikes! I’m glad it’s doable, but I hope they get weaned before disaster happens! Wow! I’m amazed.
ok this is a little weird but it’s also kind of cool

that is so coll. i cant belvie my eyes.i m moved
that is so cute
hay that piger is kinda rude just back off its cute and u have no say in things piger. if that tiger wants to nurse the pigs thann ok.
Piger,
A mother tiger who lost her babies and gets depressed.
Piglets that would have been raised in horrible conditions to get slaughtered into porkchops, are the only babies available at the time.
Now, everone seems happy.
What do you want?
We could argue that they would be happier in the wild but it’s still better than nothing.

that is so stupid what was really the point of doing that like common now can some one really explain to me,
how come the pigs are with a tiger the last time i checked pigs and tigers dont go no where together. Pigs are raised on farms and TIGER ARE RAISED IN THE WILDERNESS DUHHH…
thanks for the help your making with these adopted animals reared by other species. it’s marvellous
i thought that all of the pictures were amazing!the most amazing part to me in the description was that the mother lion decided to nurse the piglets after losing her own to cubs!its astonishing!she was so depressed she was willing to take others in!

Hello.
!.

We think that these pictures are the CAUTEST pictures evvvvvver!
So caute…could make ya cry! ;(! lol.
XD!.
Love Gemma and Rebekah!
xxxx….VOTE THE TIGERS AND THE PIGS! lol
I don’t see what’s wrong with it. The animals are in a zoo anyway; it’s hardly a natural environment. Who cares if the piglets grow up thinking they’re tigers, or the cubs thinking they’re pigs. It’s not going to harm them in their future lives, is it? I mean, I doubt they’d seriously consider releasing the tigers or pigs into the wild anyway, so they won’t have a chance to live a natural life. Isn’t being hand-reared on a milk bottle worse than being nurtured by an animal from a different species?
I think that it is pretty cute and tht whoever thinks its wierd can just shut up. So what if a tiger is nursing pigs?! W/E!
wow!!!
they look cute together…
i love those pics….
I think if the tiger raises the pigs it should be aloud to eat them when they are full grown.
this is outrageous, did you see the tiger skins on the piglets. this is against nature. this is not what god intended
Beautiful. What else can I say?
Lol @ it being against nature. If god’s got a problem with it, I’m sure he’s capable of fixing it. Who knows, might be the last straw; an adoptive abomination and now he’ll smite us all!
Piger,
Nobody is trying to start an argument but you and nobody even tried to mention vegetarianism. All Anita Bath was trying to ask was would you rather she was eating the pigs instead of being maternal to them?
I would agree with you normally, had this been a wild tigress and wild pigs thrown together and forced to act this way, but they are not. I might like to point out that this behaviour is not unheard of in the wild either: http://www.ens-newswire.com/ens/feb2002/2002-02-21-06.asp
They are animals in captivity where odd behaviour of this kind will not bring them to any harm. Further more, how can it be cruel if the tigress knows no different? She and her ‘young’ seem quite content and I’m sure that it would have been obvious by now if they were not.
I think that it’s better to let the Tiger act however it wants and let the piggies act how they want to. Everyone has 1 life, or for religious ppl, 1 different type for each life. Let them live how they want to. If i was told what was right and what is wrong then i’d get ANGRY!!!!!!!!!!!! lol. Anyways, it is what makes this tiger unique and special so let it have its uniqueness. Not because the stereotypical Tiger…. Piger…. HEY THAT RHYMES!!! Yay!!!! I did rhymeys. O.O Ignore my random sentences in this comment.
ooooohhhhh thats so cute
that is so cute i love pigs and tigers.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
They are sssssooooooooo cute!!!!! I want 1 of my own!
I see nothing wrong or uncommon with this picture…There are many examples in nature where animals(predators) take baby animals(prey) “under their wings”…Scientists speculated that it’s the natural instinct of a parent that they care for the baby animals…But most examples involve female predators…
It seems that the tiger had become accustomed to pigs since she too was raised by a female pig in captivity…So in a sense she probably thinks of these pigglets as children of her own…
Kinda cool I think =)
humans drink cow’s milk right? the only problem I can imagine is if the babies are getting the wrong hormones from the surrogate mother. Of course the mama tiger herself was raised by a pig and she’s just fine!
in a way its cruel cuz the tiger is practicly raising its own food! and the piglets dont stand a chance. but yeah its cute and if thats what a tiger wants to do then let it!
xXxGemmaxXx
go mother nature & get without intervntion
Tiger are bad pets and it is good to go to the zoo to see they.
I’d hate to be the one who skinned the tiger cubs and dressed the piglets in them.
I don’t see anything wrong with this. If the Tigress was raised by a pig, then she might think of the pigs as her natural children anyway. The piglets probably had no mother and seeing as the Tigress was raised by a pig with Piglet siblings (which you can see in the picture) i doubt that the tiger would eat teh pigs.
the Lucy person who says it is outrageous and not what God intended-i think that seing as similar things happen in teh Wild, the pigletsd may have died if they were without a mother and all the animals are happy now, how can that not be good?
The animals won’t be released into the wild so if the tiger thinks she’s a pig or the pigs think they’re tigers it shouldn’t matter.
\Anyway, this is really interesting. I also liked reading other people’s views on it.
Thanks for sharing it!
yall r sooooo stupid no wonder the eceonomy is messed up around here the only thing ur doing is ruening mother nature and u should be so ashamed of yourselfs im sure mother nature worked hard on this kind of stuff but since some people want to be ignorant we are going to have man eating pigs!!
I got an email with this, I think it’s cool the piglets saved the tiger from dying of depression, but they shouldn’t make a habit of it. some1 made a good point, they wouldn’t b “true” pigs b/c they weren’t raised by one. will she teach them to hunt when they get bigger? what if she tried to pick them up by the scruff to carry them off?
i don’t really see anything wrong with this. like someone else pointed out similar things have actually happened in the wild, where predator raises prey. it is after all a mothers natural instinct, but what will happen to the pigs when they are grown? a tiger looks after babies for over 2 years while pigs don’t need any care from a parent after a few months. will they just remove the pigs and kill them? kill them and feed them to the tiger? i doubt she’d realise she was eating her adopted babies or if she’d care for that matter, food is food right? but it would seem wrong somehow. i hope they find a nice friendly place for the pigs to live when they are grown instead of killing them when they are no longer useful:(
yall are stupid. It ain’t no problem with this. It’s like sayin we cant raise cats, dogs, etc… b/c they gonna turn out like us. but does that happen??? NO!!!
Hm, the girl Luci who said this was against what God intended – no offense, but I don’t think either the tiger OR the pigs read any scripture or had any formal religious or dogmatic education.
Think, people, NO training can make a tiger want to nurse, instead of eat, a pig – the tiger obviously WANTS to care for them – and if that’s the act of a wild creatures, then its obviously God’s will or a gift of nature, whatever you believe in. You might want to try thinking before you speak.
There are many documented cases of wild and domestic animals raising the young of another species – this is far from the first, but very cute. Many dogs have nursed kittens, and not in a zoo or any setup environment, but simply because they chose to care for them.
Maybe the animals just have a little more sense then people – the instinct of any mother to protect the life of any ‘child’ is a beautiful thing – hard to fathom anyone calling it unnatural or against God or any other such drek.
You can’t TEACH maternal instincts, and you certainly can’t FORCE a predator to protect and raise it’s natural prey – that, Luci, is as divine as it gets.
The little tiger suits on the pigs is the only odd thing about it – people do really weird things.
I khow why The tigres dosen’t eat pig coz tigres know that pig is “haram”, right.
those are the cutest things in the world
i dont get it who killed the tiger the pigs or the hunters because it looks like the pigs did
??
“piger” DOUCHE.
first off, you’re basically promoting it in your name are you not? idiot.
+i think you need to understand that it’s not cruel to be doing this, the tiger was DEPRESSED. leaving it depressed would be cruel.
don’t you realize all ZOOS are cruel!?
“oh yeh, let’s just catch these animals+take away their lives+choices to do anything anywhere.”
the ONLY time i ever support animals in captivity is if they could not POSSIBLY survive on their own, like twoheaded animals or animals with other deformites+that is ONLY if the person taking care is taking GREAT care of this animal.
+before anone asks, no, i do not own pets or EAT ANY ANIMAL.
you all need to start thinking on the wavelength of the ANIMAL here. you are not an animal so you are COMPLETELY incapable of thinking as one. she would’ve bee completely depressed, the poor tiger.
+like the other guy said, god is not a part of the lives of animals, sorry.
+idiot, the tiger’s not dead.
kthanks. [=
gotta also point out to those of you who are ignorant:
the tiger is RAISING the pigs as it’s own.
THEY ARE NOT FOOD.
what is happening to america?
get an education before posting.
+anyone who wants to post to me back, sry, i’ll prolly never be back on this site again.
mk? thanks, have fun kiddies.
lol thats funny i thot it was edited @ first then i scrolled down. To bad they’re gonna hav 2 get seperated @ one time or another…that or they get eated lol
To respond to the question of the ethics of the thing–whether the tiger or pigs would grow up to be “normal,” If they’re happy, I think it’s perfectly ethical.
Also, though, I heard that the zoo just did this to get cute pictures?
one pig is facing the wrong way!
I love the fact that this tiger is so ccaring and loving to the piglets but please take those tiger skins of the pigs!
this is an awsome site and its soo funny
i love this site its so cool and i love animals to its also funny but also i love wild animals my room is filled with wild animals jk but anyway my favorite animal is the tiger or the natural invirment because its so nice and when im upset i go out side and sit down
i think it’s fascinating how tigers and pigs can give birth and share the milk! do u follow me? i thought that the babies will need the milk from their own mom!!!
aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaawwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww
there so cute
This is extremely funny to me. I just looked at the picture because my girlfriend loves pigs. (Which is why shes with me) She also likes wild animals too!! (me again) The funny part of all of it is reading this blog. The person who says there is no way we as people can know how animals feel and then states how sad the tiger was to lose her young. HAhahhAH Then.. people saying shes (the tigress) is raising her dinner. HahahhahahhHA That was my first thought when I looked at it. Then I thought, wow I wonder if they got them Tiger coats at Macys I think my friend Julie has the same one. The kicker though, is the people who call others idiots and then can not spell half the words in the paragraph!! HAHAHAFrickenHAAAH! I love it! This is classic stuff.
As far as the pigs and the tigers being raised by each other… they are alive. Life is good. My sis in law has a boa that she feeds mice. This one mouse however was a little different from the rest. He ran up to the snake and cuddled by the nape of the snakes neck. 6 months later they still live together and the snake and mouse sleep together. The mouses name is Lucky. (I dont even sleep with my woman after 6 months) But I do have a comfy couch! But what I guess the moral of the whole snake story is, if your going to talk ^%$& first learn to spell. =P Been Real.
Ok. Zoos have the POTENTIAL to be cruel. HOWEVER, zoos provide a service by educating the general public about wildlife, allowing for humans to better understand the creatures that inhabit the world and to treat these animals with respect. Furthermore, most of you need to learn to spell and use proper grammar. It’s insulting that I share a language with such idiots. Peace.
i thought at first they were tiger cubs being nursed by a tiger because of thair jackets.:-)
P.S.
they were soooooooooooo cute
yum white meat
I was raised by a moutain lion
Hunting trip got lost and ended up with a mountan lion mom
People, just so you know the tiger skins on the piglets were the skins of the mothers dead babys, but the zoo later removed the coats because they realized that the mother had simply accepted the pigs as her own. If you zoo had not done this the tiger would have died of depression for sure!
this is great but the only thing that bothers me is… where is the piglets mother? and what will happen to the piglets when they grow up, and the zoo no longer needs them?
anyway Preditors often adopt prey on thier own accord! so this is completely natural and there is nothing wrong with different species mixing!! after all most humans would much rarther drink cows milk than drinking milk from other humans of the same species!!
aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa
wwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww
thats so sweer
Thank you so much for bringing this inspiration to our laptops, i never even thought or realised that animals could under certain circumstances co-exist, i think its an important lesson for all us humans, for humanity living under one roof in one world. No matter what “the food chain” or our preconceptions teach us, in the moment we make the decision.
awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww
they are so cute in their little stripped shirts!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
coooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooool
SSSSSSSSSSSSOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
We have to work VERY hard to save the Tiger from absolute extinction; if this helps then God is doing good work. Thank You
WOWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW
I was rasied by a Sloth, now I sleep all day and only get up to eat.
Thats not funny
i grew up on a farm. some of the animals there were pets, some we ate. what this tigress decides to do with the pigs she raises is her business.
hehe NOT WHAT “GOD” INTENDED!
hehe shut up
k?thx.bai.
i love this those lil piggies must have been so happy. This makes me giggle!!! lmao
This actually isn’t uncommon they have a dog who adopted cats, a man dog who apdopted three rabbits, a cat who adopted puppies and even in the wild they’ve had a lioness who adopted a baby oryx sadly a male lion killed the baby but she adopted three more after that, and its not cruel its nature.
wtf
lol theses piggies are sooooooooooooooo cute!!!!!!!!!!!☺
the are pictures are so cute
hello??
yeno that show with tigger and piglet and pooh bear?
duh thhey seem to get along ur guys r the ones that r cruel jugdin animnals,…..
u guys r hypocrites!!!
they prolly look cuter than u anyway!! haha
they doo!!!!
this is cool and its not that unusual….remember the story of the gorilla who raised a baby kitten as its own….true story… the gorilla loved that cat and when that cat died the gorrilla wouldnt do anything for about a month..the gorilla was sad and even made a little place to put the dead cat kind of like a primative grave site.
This is just further proof of how horrible humans are. We think this is cute. It’s not. Tigeres are almost extinct and all we can think about is how cute it is when they cuddle little piggies. Pigs are suppose to be breakfast for tigers. Not their best friend.
So Cute love it
As long as the tiger views the piglets as her offspring and not prey, then nothing will go wrong
There are many cases in the wild of a carnivore taking adopted herbivore children from different species. There is a lion somewhere in africa that tries two or three times a year to adopt baby Gazelle as her child, and there was a case of a leopard killing a baboon but laying down peacefully with the baboon baby, like it was trying to keep it warm and alive.
These cases are both wild cats loving and caring for their food like they would their own child. If that kind of thing happens naturally, if rarely, in the wild, how can you argue something like this is unnatural?
woooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooh were did u get those pics man dude wtf
piger: It’s not exactly cruel to let a pig raise a tiger. Maybe the zoo ran out of options and had no other animal but that pig to nurse them. And the tiger just happened to think that pigs aren’t exactly a meal. Like raising a dog with sheep so it would later protect them or having another species of animal care for an orphaned animal.
To lucy and Danxyz, you don’t really think that the piglets are wearing real cub skins do you? fools!!! these little coats are fake fur so the tiger would associate the markings with the cubs she lost. It is the case that some deceased infant animal skins are placed over the backs of the orphan to allow the scent to fool the mother into accepting the young. Also on the subject of cruelty in allowing this to happen between different species…Humans are also animals and we adopt all sorts of different species into our hearts, ie dogs, cats, horses etc, the list is infinate, also depending on where we come from in the world and what culture we live by we also EAT the dog, cat, rabbit, cow and horse etc. What about farmers that raise cattle and chickens to adulthood before sending them to the slaughter house so you get your sunday dinners! So PLEASE people engage your brains before commenting, we are supposed to be the superior species after all. And so the next debateable subject begins…
Well it’s not like the zoo forced them to get along!!! Honestly!! I read what some of you have to say, and I realize it is your opinion, but think about it! It is just animals from different parts of the food chain getting along fine. This tigers mother could have died and the only way for it to survive would have been to be raised by the pig! The tiger is just being loyal to those who may have saved it’s life! “Dinner has been served” you people really don’t know anything! I totally agree with tequilajayne, engage your brains before commenting!
i lost my virginity to a tiger.
Those pigs are so stinkin cute. The tigers in the pig pen was funny & cute did I menchen funny. If you adopt a tiger its good to help the people understand that tigers and other animals are harmless to people.People don’t understand wild animals are more scared of you then you are of them.
When i growup im gonna work with tigers i love tigers yeah they may kill people but its not their fault they only kill to protect themselves and some people get attacked cuz they go hunting for them.to those who lost loved ones cuz of a tiger attack im really sorry but when tigers are too weak to go hunting theyll go and attack a person.for those who did lose someone. to a tiger attack then this is a little something you were here but now youre gone you left youre name to carry on those who knew you knew you well those who didnt can go to hell.tigers are just like people but they have fur whiskers a tail and paws.i love tigers so much cuz i had a tiger kitten his name was tiger i love him so much but then some mean man or woman hit him and he died my dad and my brother derek brought him home april 5th 2007 and he died august 4th 2008 who ever killed him i will find you for killing my precious little boy sent down from above i miss you baby R.I.P.thats why tigers ar so important to me he was only a month and a half when he came home and he died at a year and a half.he was here but now hes gone he left his name to carry on those who knew him knew him well those who didnt can go to hell.
but dont the tigers eat pigs though?
the piglets look like tiny lil pencil cases
Awwwwww,so cute that is so so cute!!!How did u do that!?!?!?!?=]That is amazing!!!!!!!=]
cool how are they doing now and why has the tiger not eaten the pigs you rock
I think pigs were there best friend in the past.
I have to say I think it’s amazing. Of course they won’t be pigs all the way through but I am not just me straight through because I am influenced by my parents daily and the rest of the world. It’s just mixing things up a bit, but nothing’s wrong. Both the piglets and the momma tiger are happy. This relationship might be different, but it works. Though if this tiger got really hungry she probably would eat them like she would in the wild. Since she is zoo fed she will keep being her protective self, protecting her babies. I think this shows that anything is possible.
You guys like Me1221 think that
‘This is just further proof of how horrible humans are. We think this is cute. It’s not. Tigers are almost extinct and all we can think about is how cute it is when they cuddle little piggies. Pigs are suppose to be breakfast for tigers. Not their best friend.’ But without the mother pig, that tigress would have died, making one less tiger in the world. Maybe think about it as a thank you to the mother pig, the tigress nursing the piglets.
But still, its not that normal. You guys are going to post back saying ‘But it could happen in the wild!’ It COULD. So I’m not on any side of the fight.
P.S. The pictures make me happy!
That is very cute and interesting how the tiger looks after the piglets
I however find it a bit sick that the zoo clothed the piglets with the skin of the tiger’s dead cub’s, which would normally just anger the tiger.
lol!
I am not skilled in Tiger psychiatry and so cannot knowledgeably discuss how the tigers and pigs will do. Though it sounds a little like Hollywood stars adopting children in Africa. Is that good or bad? I cannot say. It just seems kind of neat. Are vegetarians morally superior to all of the rest of humankind? Perhaps everyone else should be hanged. I know the Right wing Republicans feels morally superior; and the Left Wing Democrats feel morally superior. It’s nice that just like in lake Woebegone, there are no just average folk, everyone is above average. Someone mentioned that this piglet Tigress thing was instituted by unthinking, stupid, not really evolved humans (like the author is evolved); but there are many documented cases of cross-species nursing in the wild.
They’re still cute!
uuuummmmm……cruelty is being inhuman, or to cause mental suffering or fear! i dont think any of these animals look like they are suffering mentally or in any kind of fear, or hurt for that matter. they look pretty happy to me, and, like they truly love eachother. sometimes nature itself is cruel, so animals like this have to be paired up in order to survive. which seems like an act of kindness on the humans part. i guess that is your opinion and this is mine.
OMG grow the fuck up! What ever happens happens at least there not like trying to kill the pigs or anything if they were not in a safe enviroment dont you think they would take them out of that fucking sitution!!? quit being a fucking hipacrypt
That looks like some funky shit
This works and it’s cute. There is nothing wrong with it, just because something is unnatural does not make it wrong, humans do loads of things that are unnatural but that does not make them wrong. Also to those of you who say that the tigeress would eat the pigs if she was hungry, she would have eaten her tiger cubs if she had been hungry aswell, she probably just thinks that they are just rather strange tiger cubs anyway, in a similar way that Wolf thinks of Torak in Wolf Brother by Michelle Paver, if anyone has read that.
Lol well. Cute pictures, shows animal instincts are not fully in control of the animal. And to everyone saying this is against nature…Yes, yes it is. And so is keeping animals in pens and in captivity. There was a documentary about a lion in the wild which picked up a baby gazelle and raised it, animals can act very strangely after loosing babies or cubs. So this, however unnatural. Is also the most natural thing to happen, as its solely their maternal nature. So yet…totally against nature and the circle of life, and yet one of the most basic, natural things.
I am concerned with this exploitation of animals. At first glance the image of the piglets and the nursing mother tiger is endearing, but as soon as I saw the image of the tiger cubs suckling from a mother pig, I am upset. This zoo is using this switching of babies and mothers as a means to promote the zoo and increase sales. I know that an increase in sales usually means more resources for the animals, but this is at the cost of the two mothers making due with infants that are not their own, while their own babies are living and well but not to be seen by the mothers. Instead they will nurture what ever creature the zoo keeper places in front of them. And some will defend this as a study of biology, and really that is pushing it. While these are considered animals of the wild (referring to the tiger) they are not in the wild. There is a reason why pigs and tigers do not naturally raise one another. There is a certain order to the food chain, and there are survival skills that I tiger must teach her cubs that a pig could never teach those cubs and vice-versa. Overall the driving motivation for such an obscure experiment is really based on one of our own survival needs: to exploit for personal gain. We are the only creature on this planet whom exploits another creature for personal gain.
Ok to the people who keep complaining about the tiger skin on the pigs ITS FAKE see how three of them have a pink tone when is the last time you saw a pink tiger and the other two are to shiny to be real come on people really us your head and to the people who think its a crime agents god if god dint like it why did it happen in the first place there is a single thing wrong with this humans help raise animals all the time
hey,
r they pigs for real
bye
fool
I think that’s kinda cute
Awesome Photographs.
http://www.flatrock.org.nz/topics/animals/holy_cow.htm
then scroll down to the section about the tigers and pigs
this is so cruel, omg i cant even belive people would do this, lets face it for entertianment!!!!!! i dont care what anyone else says, this is sooooo wrong, has anyone thought about why the pigs are dressed as tigers, because if the tiger seem the pigs actual colours it would kill them, uno that thing we call nature and the food chain, and they are clearly rubed down with the tigers bedding so they smell the same to. its not cute in anyway!!!!!!!!!!!!!
what e sex thing
http://www.sociallifeworld.com thinks this is really funny
It is really cruel!!!!!!!!1
caroline the tiger adopted the piglets BEFORE they put FAKE tiger fur on them its not cruel its no different then if some one adopted a child of a different race.
I think thats just wrong. Wha will happen when the tiger gets fed up and kills them!!!! Who would want to watch a tiger eating 6 pigs, I know I would’nt I own 10 pigs.
They are SO sweet! I love pairs like that!
Once, in a photo book. I saw the second picture down the list! There was also another pair of a cat and a mouse!
seems cute. just you wait til the tiger gets hungry, impatient, and angry.
LOL ROFL ROFLOL ROFLCOPTER LOLTASTIC OLOLOLOLOLOL
XD
this is so cute lol i love tigers they r absolutely my fav. animal and to see one nursing pigs!! hehe so cute
Okay, seriously. How many idiots are going to say that the little tiger suits are cruel before they realize that they AREN’T REAL FUR!! Really, are you that dumb? I mean come on, does that mean that every tiger print seat cover and leopard print bra is real fur too? Give me a break.
the animal so sweet
its nice to see ….. We human beings have learn lotsszzzzzzz 4m this
I bet dat tiger iz just fattning up da pigz and in a year the zoo will wake up 2 alot of blood and guts everywhere! 8ultra evil laughter*
It’s cute for a while. But we shouldn’t mess up their social livin’ by doing this and just because we think its cute. Seems all we do is to care about cute. of course once in a while u can let them get to know other animals.
The stupid tiger,it didn’t know the piglet is delicious food.
why would this be cruel it’s a way to raise orphaned animals
nice pigs you have
The Tiger is Vegetarian.
Okay people, cece?-they are in captivity so thats different then on in the wilderness! And i doubt she’s going to eat the pigs that she raised because she was raised by a pig herself. It isn’t cruel! Stop assuming it is cruel just because they are different species!
that is so sweet does the sow know she is feeding the tigers and does the tiger know she is with pigglets
I knew a guy from my hometown that raised two Siberian tigers with his dogs, one of them a dachshund. No matter how big the tiger got, it never realized it was bigger than the dog, and the dog never realized it was smaller than the tiger. They used to chase each other and play just like two cats or two dogs would with each other, and neither one ever got hurt while playing.
It’s amazing what animals can do and how they can coexist with each other like this. Humans could learn a lot from animals.
Ok heres the thing, this is very cute and anyone who finds this offensive needs to shut up. Th is tiger lost her litter and when into a deep depression (yes tigers and become depressed like most other living creatures) and to bring her out of it they gave her the piglets to raise. Wild animals have been documented doing this for unknown reasons on their own along with domestic dogs, cats and EVEN HUMANS! Yes humans. We raise dog, cats, birds, etc and it’s EXACTLY the same. The dog, cat etc is not human but we see it as ethically or morally right to do it so why do you try to argue an animal can’t care for another species of animal? For those saying God doesn’t say its right, are you sure? He says for us to care and he wants all living things to love one another (even if an animal follows the instinct to kill for food) so why cannot the maternal bond be that love?
All in all this is quite beautiful and both the piglets and the tiger are happy and healthy. What more can you ask for?
dat iz freaky
thats a little mean cuz they might die cuz they think they are pigs :,(
It’s so adorable!!! and so cuuuteee!!!1
Cruel?! What would be cruel is to let the pigs starve or release them into the wild. Many animals have been documented mothering other species with no ill results. Kittens have nursed off of dogs with the only ill effects being that they are better pets. These animals are in captivity and have no chance at making it in the wild so why not give them the best possible lives. I see no “cruelty” in that… It is more natural for a pig to suckle a tit (mother or not) than to bottle feed from humans. I suppose it’s cruel to allow a human babby suckle from someone other than their own mother because they might turn out different than they otherwise would have right…? What about surrogates? What about the “cruelty” of adoption? We as humans think that things can only happen the way they are supposed to (or the way we think they are supposed to) but there are many extenuating circumstances that can and do work out. We should celebrate these successes instead of trying to find the “cruelty” or wrong in the things that don’t seem natural. Nay to you nay sayers out there…
aww…! it’s so sad that mother tiger lost her cubs…. but piggy’s r darn cute too!
I’m just wondering how the tigers and pigs are doing today. I noticed this started about 3 years ago or so. Are they all still together?
I think situations like this are wonderful. Think about it… These animals look different, live in different environments, eat different things, and think and act differently, and yet they are willing to help each other out. Wouldn’t the world be a better place if we all thought and acted like that? Just because someone looks different, eats different, talks different, or thinks differently from us, they are still people too and there is a lot we can do to help each other. Many of us choose not to, but some people do have open hearts. So why is it wrong for an animal to? I think it’s wonderful!
That is so cute!!!!!!!!!!The mighty beast has a heart!
where’s pooh bear and eeyore?
lol. jk
=)
Ok this is really bothering me, people keep saying this is cruel, against nature, whatever, you guys just need to shut up. How can a tiger taking care of those baby piglets be cruel? And if it was against nature wouldn’t you think this wouldn’t have happened in the first place???
Also some people are talking about “this isn’t the natural food chain” well too bad! the tiger and the cute piggies don’t know the so called natural order of things that we created anyway. So leave the tiger and piggy alone they seem happy so are you saying they can’t be happy?! Are you??!!
all of you can get sum cause bangel tigers are my favourite and i actually own one me and my dad both got our tiger lisences so ha get to my level
i like all animals, like tigers. i also love pigs so i would want to see that, but the pigs are probably in danger.
so cute!!!!! <3
I dont think this is cruel at all, the tiger knows that these are just babies and are motherless. The tiger is childless and she seems to feel the gap with these piglets. As they say some people are raisedby animals in the wild its the same thing here. The mother is protecting who she believes are her children. You cant take that away from her, shes just doing what any mother would, like adopting. Humans and animals arnt much different, except some are scum and abuse children, you hear bout parents abusing their children for no reason, you dont see an animal do that for no reaoson!
love
Look guys it isnt cruel !!! First of all the little piglets would most likely be taken away if the mother was agressive to them the owners would not legally be able to leave them with the mother if she got a bit peckish ……she would be fed so her instincts wouldnt be focused on making the kill letting her care for the pigs ………. also if you notice the baby tigers feeding on the mummy pig there is a metal bar stopping them from getting to her and it is very likely that once they can care for themselves they would be taken away its just the nutrients in the milk !!!
troooooooooo chou !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I love you
Nature is misterious. Natural elements are more misterios than the neture itself.
LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL
its kinda cruel but DONT say its not funny!! xD
When these people wont see OFCORSE!!!
cute but wierd!!
i made a joke
Tiger Mum : Hello Sweetie, i heared that you have babies!!!
Tiger piggy mum : Yes, they are so tasty! one day i will have them on lunch!
Tiger mum : What??? What you mean “They are so tasty”???
Tiger piggy mum : My babies are Pigglets!! if they get the influenza, i will send you them so you can feed them to ur babies ok?
Tiger mum : Prrrr. Ok Ok
XD HAHAHAHA
Isn’t the real question whether the tiger is kosher now?
ohhhhhhhhhhhh!!!! il son chou mais povre tigre elle â perdue ses bébé.
ta raison vraiment trop cute!!! jte di lala…… povre eux
Personally I don’t think it’s cruel. A little odd yea. Adorable yes. Wrong no. Think of it THIS way. If prey and predator animals can coexist like this and get along and even build maternal and loving bonds between each other… WHY CAN’T HUMANS?!
We humans squabble and fight over everything and can never get along with each other – OUR OWN SPECIES. Whereas I’ve seen animals from many different species and genuses get along just fine and coexist in perfect harmony. I’ve seen a dog, cat, and rat live together happily. When those three are seen as natural enemies.
If an animal a creature lesser then us intelligent wise can adopt and love a predator or prey species why can’t we? I can’t count the amount of times I’ve heard people express disgust at the thought of adopting a child from another race. And they always give petty stupid excuses just like for the tiger and the piglets. Yea they are a predator and prey species which shouldn’t mix right? BUT THEY OBVIOUSLY WERE ABLE TO. If animals are capable of showing unbiased love to different species and get along and accept it as their own. Why can’t we? Love is the most important thing in parenthood. No matter what color or species an animal or human child is. As long as they are with a parent who loves and cares for them more then anything above all else who cares? I’m happy to see this Tiger Momma and her baby piggies!
