The Czech Republic has often been criticized for their environmentally unfriendly policies: no emission controls on vehicles, soviet era power plants, and the world’s highest per capita carbon emissions.
In a bid to become “greener”, the Czech Republic has introduced public transportation for their major cities. Here’s a picture of one of the new trains in action:

Actually, these pictures are of trains going through the Czech city of Brno. The city had planned on moving some of their train stations and tracks from the downtown area by 2017, but has since run out of money. With no other options, the trains continue chugging through this city of almost 400,000.
I thought it was a joke until I went to the site and looked through all the photos there.
From the pics you posted, I thought that was steam and I would say it wouldn’t be poluting much, but I went to the link and its very obvious that much of the smoke plumes are toxic

It’s ‘greeness’ depends upon whether it’s burning coal/fossil fuels (bad) or wood from a sustainable source (good).
Works for me! I’d love to have one of those headed down our streets. Think of the cool photo opportunities it would afford =)

And after the humor, some reality. The rails lead from the Central station to the Brno´s Exhibition Fair, which is the biggest fair area in Czech republic. It happens quite often that some trains are being exhibited there, so the pictures just show a transportation of an “exhibit” to the fair.
The movement of the Central station doesnt have to do anything with these pictures. It should be performed in order to connect Brno on high-speed train corridors to Bratislava and Prague.
