Oooh man! that is hilarious! yes, these events can be tragically sad, but when you work with geological hazards on a daily basis, you have to learn to take some humor in the events.. very nicely worded. . . but for those naysayers.. generally speaking, sinkhole events don’t kill people a lot of people. . more likely to be killed via driving, flying, drowning, bees, lighting, etc, etc. The sinkhole event pictures, a beauty, is from Guatemala, and I do believed it claimed 3 lives. Also, sinkholes are often triggered by humans. . . so. . natures wrath initiated by our own meddling.

flyermoney & jj– I posted the story about the world’s largest miniature golf course for the sheer absurdity of it. I needed a picture of a large hole in the ground to make the point. No offense intended.

jj– The denizens of Hacalugi, Florida, including Mr. Foosers and Councilwoman Crumbler do not consider it to be a h++I45 place to live, and neither do I. I was not making fun of imaginary people and places intentionally.
