Update: After reading e-mail and comment feedback, I’ve decided to retire my drawing smock – consider yourself spared
For some reason, today I became fixated on trying to draw a funny comic. Given my artistic abilities (up until now, The SpongeBob in this post was among my best drawings ever), I should have known better.
After 5 hours of throwing away good ideas I simply could not draw, I finally settled on this one:

Even this took me 8 or 9 attempts … whew, I gotta get some sleep!
So what do you think?

Technology and internet problems seem to follow me everywhere, even when I’m not connected to the internet! For example: while on my honeymoon, I was reading a good book one day when all of a sudden I turned the page to find this alarming message:

Don’t you hate it when that happens? Luckily I had a camera nearby. If you can’t read the text on page 404, let me know and I’ll add it here or in a comment. And yes, this is an actual picture from my honeymoon in Aruba (OK, most of it is real), the picture was looking out our hotel room window.

UpdateThe caption contest is over (although feel free to add new captions). Almost all the entries were funny, so it was tough to choose my favorites, but here goes nothing (in order posted):
- “Huh? I got something where? On my left or right cheek?” – word_sling
- “Hey shhhh! I’m in camouflage.” – Paul
- “I may have made a slight mess, hope mommy doesn’t notice.” – libragirl
- “Don’t ask me where the chicken is. Just don’t ask…” – Richie
- “Man, these are some complex carbohydrates.” – Diesel
Wanted: great caption for this cute messy baby (submit as a comment)
Reward: a lifetime of fame & fortune (i.e., I’ll list the best captions in the post and link to your site)

(if anyone knows the original source, let me know)

I was about to go to bed when I found the following picture, with no description other than ‘Piglets’:

via Arbroath
I figured the scene must have been staged, but I had to learn more. Turns out that it’s a silly British kids show that is performed INSIDE the inflatable pig!
Every summer, the Whalley Range All Stars rolls out “The Pig” to various festivals across the UK. Kids (and brave adults) don little piglet tails and assume their positions to watch a short show performed inside the pig. Between shows, the pig moves around a little and makes pig noises.
Here are a couple more pictures:

(thanks to Alper Çugun for the pics)
I’ll bet the kids look absolutely adorable “suckling” on the pig while the show goes on inside … too bad I couldn’t find any videos.

A few weeks ago, we showed Nike golf balls hitting household objects at over 200 mph. While the following video of a bullet going through random objects doesn’t have the same novelty factor, I still thought it was cool:
(if you can’t see the video, click here)
You may ask why I’m posting this on a humor blog … well, I’m not sure why, but I thought the banana and soda can shots were pretty funny. Maybe I need to get a tune-up on my sense of humor?

After reports that the new iPhone may be hard to use, Apple has decided to divert their research and development to another endeavor – the iPotty. After the buzz around the introduction of the iPhone died down, Steve Jobs was quoted as saying:
Apple needs to look for new distribution channels. Worldwide, there are only one Billion people using cell phones, which is just too small of a market for Apple to meet my sales expectations. That’s why I was ecstatic when, while stocking the pond with brown trout the other morning, the solution came to me – the iPotty!
With this speech, Jobs also released two early design concepts:

Oddly, there are toilet related iPod products already in existence. Take this iPoop for example:

Unlike the other pictures, this is actually a real product. The iPoop let’s you keep your iPod docked, charging, and connected while you’re taking care of business (pic via Future Lawyer).

As Jack Nicholson approximately said: “You wanna see the poop? You can’t handle the poop!”. I’d let Jack win that argument … overflowing toilets are only bearable when the water is clean.
Thanks to Sandra for giving me permission to use this picture! Apparently this was actually part of an outdoor fountain/display, pretty cool!

Sometimes we all make major life decisions far too difficult … but as this flow chart shows, they don’t need to be:
