Tickle Me

Do you think you’re funny … or do you have a good joke that you’d like to try out? If so, now you can get an unbiased opinion from the unlikeliest of places – Google. That’s right, apparently Google has a sense of humor, and is anxiously waiting to critique your jokes.

Skeptical? Me too, until I just asked Google to “tickle me”. And guess what? Google laughed! Actually, only 86% of Google laughed, but that’s still a lot of Googleliciousness for just two words.

Want to give it a shot? Go to Make Google Laugh. If you create good ones, I’d definitely love to know.

Time for a few more jokes. Let’s see what Google thinks:

First: A REALLY BAD joke that I just made up

What is the difference between the Easter Bunny and a well rested blogger?
Some people still believe the Easter Bunny exists.

The verdict? No laughter, Google only found it 3.5246% funny. I was hoping for at least 3.53%, but I think I’ll live.

Second: A nonsense kids joke that I just made up

Oink Oink.
Moo there?
Poo.
Poo hoo?
Poo poo!

Google’s verdict? Google laughs!!! Almost 65% funny. Now if only Google could tell me what my cow and pig knock-knock joke actually meant, I’d be impressed!

Third: A silly kid’s knock knock joke from a friend’s 6 year old

Knock Knock
Who’s there?
Chicken
Chick…
CHICKEN!!!

(note: if you plan to deliver this joke, say CHICKEN well before the person can finish saying “chicken who”)

The verdict? Google laughs!!! 100% FUNNY! No applause needed, my comedy tour starts next week.

How did you do? Did you make Google laugh? If so (or if you just want to share your jokes), leave me a comment. I had a lot of fun with this, and hope you did too! 😉

This thing really is strange, but then again so am I. So I typed in “bite the wax tadpole” , a phrase that always made me smile and apparently:

    Google laughs!!!
The joke’s funniness percentage is: 51.5827%
    The joke’s popularity is: 4.143
    (where 7=super popular, 1=not popular)

I then tried a couple of things from my blog and no laughs until this one:

As computers play an ever-larger role in our lives, will emoticons ever find their way on to people’s tombstones? You know, something like: John Doe, Born 1924 :)- Died 1996:(

    And what do you know,

    Google laughs!!!
The joke’s funniness percentage is: 71.4286%
    The joke’s popularity is: 0.845

Now if I only knew what the hell “funniness percentage” meant.

Man…that was the funniest thing in the world…when I was in like 2nd grade… :)

TDB – I’m just waiting for flat screen tombstones, then I can put Google ads on it and make my relatives rich for life!

Oooh … Google thought that was funny! Maybe Google will become my new proofreader.

TJ – Actually, I really like your joke, although I’ve always had a thing for completely silly ones. Google seems to also really like kid jokes. I guess that shouldn’t be too surprising, Google is only 8 years old! 😉

    Haha,

Nice clean joke that sounds dirty!

I didn’t originally realize it, but apparently (to some people) this post was an invitation to send me REALLY dirty jokes (which I have to moderate, sorry for those of you who would have liked them).

    😉

Google laughs at some of the songs I sing to my dogs. The one that’s sung to the tune of “Yankee Doodle Dandy” (Hankee Doodle is a dog / She’s Hankee Doodle Doggie) got 92% and the one with the tune of my own composition (I’m a puppy dog and I don’t care / I am going to eat your underwear) got 69%.

I tried another that’s to the tune of the Flintstones theme song, but Google didn’t like it. I tried it with the standard “ticks and fleas” (which rhymes with “dog right out of history”) and then changed it to our hilarious “flicks and teas” but that did not bump up the 21% at all.

Aw. I thought that last one was pretty funny too. (Then again, I like really cheesy jokes, so…)

Considering I didn’t deliver the punch line, this result seems a bit odd.

I tried another one that got over 98%, but I can’t post that one here. It did show me that Google appears to like adult humor.
